ABOUT VINO TIEMPO
The birth of Vino Tiempo Wine Bar and Cigar Lounge, was a result of our desire to create a comfortable, relaxing and first class, non-smoking environment, where patrons are personally welcomed by friendly staff to enjoy fine wine and food.
“Vino Tiempo is a collection of thoughts compiled throughout my travels in the wine world and the world in general. I believe that Providenciales is ready for an upscale restaurant and wine bar which caters to the discerning adult”.
Given the multi ethnic cultural way in which the islands are growing, we decided that the décor would be a combination of European influences. The furniture is set in an Italian lounge concept, the upholstery French and the cuisine tapas-style, since tapas naturally complimented wine.
The trick then was to first find the right cadre of personnel and secondly the perfect location. As Faith would have it, we were able to lure Mr. Murad Mohamad, a well travelled and highly experienced Food & Beverage Manager, on board as a consultant. Murad brought with him a wealth of knowledge having operated many restaurants for Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton both in the United States and Europe. Missing now was an experienced Chef, who came to us in the person of Chef Peter Redstone. A highly renowned gastronomist Chef Pete, as he is affectionately known, brought the multi ethnic food cultures having worked throughout Metropolitan London. Lastly was a Manager who shared our vision and passion. Again, without much searching we discovered Sarah Lesage who works tirelessly in making Vino Tiempo the success it continues to be.
The second task was finding the perfect location on the island where such a concept would be accessible to both locals and visitors to our beautiful shores. The location had to be in Grace Bay and have certain physical amenities like an outdoor patio where smokers and others alike could relax in the evening and at night under the stars. We fortunately found an interior corner of The Regent Village to be the perfect locale, given that it fits the desired concept – that Manhattan, South Beach, Monte-Carlo - type environment – here in the Turks & Caicos Islands.
So there you have it, “A place like Vino Tiempo on a remote island sounds incongruous, but guest coming to our shores are looking for it. There’s only so much sun and sea they can enjoy before they begin to long for the amenities of their home, whether it be Manhattan, San Francisco, Paris or London where they stop at their favorite wine bar, restaurant or pub and chit-chat about being in paradise” is what I’ve always said!!!
